Hopefully with the fuller explanation contained in this booklet, it will make it easier to understand.

5     “On with the Show” says it all – read it carefully!

6     Make sure that the fastenings are suitable for the medium used

7.    7  Extra points may be awarded for a perfect finish

8.    8  Let your imagination run wild

9     Make sure your exhibit fits in with your choice of “An Historic Norfolk Person” (born pre 1900)

10     You may find the article about the Salver in The Norfolk WI Newsletter dated September useful

Conditions for Novice Class

•    If your WI has never entered the Centenary Salver you will be eligible to enter the Novice Cup

•    You can remain in the novice class for a period of two years, after which you will need to enter the Centenary Salver Competition

•    The winner of the Novice Cup will automatically move to the Centenary Salver Competition the following year

•    We hope the constructive comments from the judges will be helpful for the future

Conditions that apply to all entries

•    Only one entry per WI is allowed.

•    Your exhibit is to be staged on a baseboard that you provide. This

can be covered if you wish in anything suitable for your theme.

•    This will be placed on a black covered show bench

•    The baseboard should be 70cm wide x 55cm deep Please check your measurements - the whole display, including the back fixings, must be within parameters or you may be disqualified (we can arrange for some to be against a wall if necessary)

•    A backboard should be fixed firmly to the base and should lie within the overall dimensions.

•    A separate area will be allocated if construction is required; this may not be done on the show bench.

•    Side boards are NOT allowed

•    Your exhibit must stay within the overall dimensions, allow room for

the floral exhibit to droop between staging and judging.

•    There is no height limit.

•    The exhibit will be viewed from the front.

•    Accessories may be used to further illustrate your theme but for security reasons please do not use valuables.

•    Please give your exhibit a title, which must be displayed.

•    A list of items to be judged must also be displayed.

•    The name of your WI must not be displayed on either list.

•    A name card will be provided on Saturday 26th April with space for you to add the names of your co-operative team. This will be placed face down until judging is completed.

•    The exhibit must be solely the work of a minimum of three members of your own WI.

•    Floral exhibit could be brought ready assembled or arranged on a designated table, NOT on the show bench. This will be judged in situ.

•    The overall exhibit is also judged and marks are awarded for both the Interpretation of the theme and the Staging of your exhibit (see pages 54 – 56 of “On with the Show”)

•    Credit will be awarded for originality. NB If a kit or part of a kit is used for a craft entry, inform the judge by attaching an unobtrusive label/ticket on your entry detailing this. (This can be removed when staging)
